S.A. Iotas

History of S.A. Iotas

This is the web site for the Brothers of the Gamma Alpha Omega Graduate Chapter (est. 2011) of Iota Phi Theta Fraternity Inc. which includes San Antonio, Austin and Killeen, TX. Currently we consist of 8 Graduate brothers. The founding members of this chapter includes two brothers who brought Iota back to Texas; Nelson Watson III and Jon' Singletary who pledged in the Fall of 1997 at Southwest Texas State University now called Texas State University. This lead to the re-birth of the ILLustrious Lambda Chapter at Prairie View A&M University in the Fall of 1998. In the Fall of 1999 there was a duece that crossed Michael 'Bling' Washington who is a native of San Antonio. As the years passed we got a brother who moved to San Antonio from Chicago (Alpha Lambda) who has now become a member of the fold. John 'Jay' Warren Jr. came in the summer of 2003 and has been a great addition to the brothers. We also have Terrance Young and Keith Bragg from the Fort Bliss, Beta Kappa Omega Chapter. Bryan Maule, Jr. who joins us from the Cornell University’s, Epsilon Sigma Chapter and Chris Riley, Sr. from the Alpha Mu Omega chapter. Although individually we are all great, but we have collectively come together to create a Texas graduate chapter for south Texas. Further establishing the goal of the fraternity which is “Building A Tradition, Not Resting Upon One” by creating new venues of community service, outreach and distinctive ways of giving back to our communities with our newly create scholarship fund. The new vision for the chapter comes from new blood stirring the old and becoming official with recognized chapter letters. It has also inspired to re-birth of our Annual Gospel Fest, which has been our biggest source of community donation with our past proceeds going to the San Antonio Sickle Cell Foundation. Proceeds from this event will now be used for our new scholarship fund.
